As a social worker, Amber Scotchburn gravitated towards working with “at-risk” school-aged children and youth. She realized that, to be effective, she needed to work with all involved in the child’s life. But her hands were often tied because of privacy laws that prohibited her from contacting those key people. So she moved into teaching to be able to involve all the key players. But she soon found the school system didn’t allow children of every learning style to be successful or to develop a love for learning.
Because Amber believes every child should have the ability to succeed, she founded her business, Tutoring…With A Twist, to enable children not only to succeed in school work but to become lifetime learners. While she was having great success with the individual children with whom she worked, she felt unable to move her business to the next level.
Then she found The Woman’s Advantage® Forum. As a result of her Forum experience, Amber developed key strategies to resolve issues that had been preventing Tutoring…With A Twist from moving to the next level. Following the Forum’s easy-to-use processes and systems, as presented by her Forum Chair, Shari Molchan, she developed a plan to work in the existing business while simultaneously working on the business to grow it. And she has been able to make continual progress because her fellow Forum members have held her accountable to her goals.
