As a mother of three sons and a former high school educator, Wendy continuously saw a gap in the academic and social opportunities provided for young black males. She was fortunate to find several programs for her own sons, but saw the need for more and launched her first organization Teach2Soar, a non-profit that provides manhood and service-learning training for young, black males, in 2014.
As this program took flight, she saw the need for other mothers in her same boat to have support and gain awareness of the issues their sons face in their adolescence. With a growing trend of single-mother homes in the African-American community, she set off on a mission to equip mothers with essential skills to thrive in their personal lives and to empower their sons from adolescence into manhood.
Having an extensive background in business management, she launched two companies, Mothers Raising Black Sons to train and support mothers and Kulture Change Apparel to raise funds to support black youth development programs across the nation.
The Woman’s Advantage® forum helped her to build this holistic model and see its vast potential to touch millions of families across the nation and world. The forum provided her with structure, an invaluable network, and expertise to scale her businesses for long-term growth and sustainability.
As a result of her work in The Woman’s Advantage®, she is well on her way to exceed her first year revenue goals in her partnering organizations while touching thousands of lives in the U.S. and abroad.
