Drama drains. And, the holiday season produces even more drama than usual. Here are five strategies to control the drama swirling around you.
Five Ways to Eliminate Drama from Your Life
1. Spend less time with those who add unnecessary drama to your life.
You know who I’m talking about—those who live to create drama, dragging you down with them. Delete them from your life. Now.
2. Put it down on paper.
Spend a few minutes every morning journaling. Here you can complain, for a fixed amount of time. Then leave it all on paper and move on to a great day!
3. Invoke a mantra.
When drama begins to swirl, I think, “I choose peace.” This reminds me that no matter what, I can always control my thoughts and feelings.
4. Slow down. We all think we need to rush during the holidays.
Why? Rushing only adds drama to our lives. Slow down. Enjoy life.
5. Cross things (and people!) off your list.
What tasks cause drama in your life? Cross them off your list. Who says you have to send holiday cards? Buy teacher presents? Cook that big dinner? Eliminate tasks that create unnecessary drama and drag you down.
