The most productive people don’t focus on doing more things, but on doing the right things. In fact, if you’re truly productive, you’ll actually do fewer things but end up with greater results.
Here are five ways that you can enhance your productivity.
5 Ways to be More Productive
1. Start with a shorter to-do list.
Rather than creating an endless list of tasks, focus on the one, two, or three (max) things you need to accomplish each day. One of my favorite quotes from The Woman’s Advantage® Shared Wisdom Calendar is: “Focus on moving three things a mile rather than 100 things an inch.”
2. Make the 80/20 rule work for you.
It’s a proven fact that 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts. Determine which of your tasks drive the results you want and focus your time and energy on them.
3. Be selfish every day.
Decide which self-activities are important to you (mediation, working out, writing in a journal) and start your day by focusing on yourself.
4. Get the hard stuff out of the way.
Schedule your challenging and creative tasks for early in the day, when you’re at optimum level. Save your routine work for later in the day.
5. Give it a break!
Studies show that you can only function at a high level for an hour or less at a stretch. At that point you need a break before going back to work at top level. I like to clear my head by running up and down the stairs a few times. Figure out what works for you and DO it!
