I’ve been in marketing for over 25 years now, and here are five things that I’ve found many business owners don’t know. I believe that these concepts can make all the difference in convincing people that there is value in finding out about you and your products and buying from you.
Here are five marketing tips to keep in mind.
5 Marketing Tips That Make the Difference
1. Make your message simple enough that your 70-year old aunt knows what you do.
Just because YOU know your offering is great, doesn’t mean that customers will clamor for it. Explain it in as simple and straightforward a manner as possible.
2. Don’t waste time at networking events unless you’re going to follow up.
No matter how wonderful the first interaction, if you don’t follow up, the whole effort is lost. Don’t expect THEM to contact you. Always assume the ball is in YOUR court.
3. Remember, it's not about you; it's about them.
Always. Prospects don’t care about you, your business, or your offerings. They just want to know “What’s in it for me?” To get their attention, you must understand their issues and clearly explain how you can improve their lives.
4. Tell stories to help prospects relate.
Describe how your offerings solve problems by telling stories. Paint a mental picture of how your product or service has helped others just like them.
5. It’s YOUR job to stay in touch.
Don’t assume that a prospect will remember you, your business, or your offerings. Again, always assume the ball is in your court!
