  • 5 Ways to Enjoy the Holiday Season

By Mary Cantando0 Comments

It’s no secret that the holidays can push your stress to an all-time high. Many of us tend to take on more than ever before both in our business and personal lives, by squeezing in that one extra party, buying that one extra gift, baking that one extra batch of cookies.

But you can develop an approach that relieves some of that stress. Here are five ways you can enjoy the holidays more than ever.

5 Ways to Enjoy the Holiday Season

1. Maintain your routine.

Change adds stress, so try to maintain your regular exercise, eating and sleeping habits. Maintaining predictability in these areas will help you to feel more in control and in a better mood.

2. Spend time with those who will lift you higher.

This is a common refrain of mine, and it’s especially important at the holidays. Invest your time with people who love and care about you, and don’t spend a moment of time with those who drag you down.

3. Say “No” when you’re feeling harried.

Whether it’s turning down a holiday party, postponing lunch with a friend, or deciding to buy rather than make those cookies. It’s not selfish to give YOURSELF leisure time to visit a spa or just take a walk during this often overwhelming season.

4. Ask for help.

Let others have the opportunity to help you while they learn new tasks. And don’t think that everything has to be done the way you’ve always done it. Simplify as much as possible and involve as many others as possible.

5. Remember, there is no such thing as a perfect holiday.

This is real life rather than the movies and things just go awry. Be realistic and don’t expect your family to live up to some impossible standard.

Five Beliefs That Will Take You Far in Life

I’ve often been referred to as a “Pollyanna” because I really believe that no matter what you’ve got going on in your life, you can make it truly great. I’m not saying that it is easy to make it great, but if you make that decision and are willing to work on the changes required, I believe that anyone can have a great life.

Here are five concepts that can move you in that direction.
